Nobody knows trucks quite like the folks in Texas. In fact, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) held the Texas Truck Rodeo to find out which one has the guts to handle what they dish out. The All-New Ram came out on top with the Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas award.

The choice was clear and the All-New Ram 1500 was the winner. Here's a quote from the editors: "Dodge got gutsy with its new Ram, turning its back on the wisdom that says towing capacity numbers – however unrealistic – are king and offering up something tangible to every truck driver: Ride quality. Gone are the leaf springs in the rear, replaced by coil springs that smooth the ride without significantly impacting the 2009 Dodge Ram's real-world capabilities as a truck."   Well said.

The editors at Edmunds.com had plenty to say about the All-New Ram: "The Ram SLT's interior is also a success. The front seats, steering wheel and optional extending pedals adjust to accommodate nearly any humanoid, and the four bins in the rear seating area are a neat touch. The rear seats flip up in one motion. The road noise that finds its way into the cabin is minimal, enhancing the Ram's overriding impression of chassis refinement."

Best Pickup for 2008 – Sobre Ruedas

Together, with specialists from the automotive industry, the editors at Sobre Ruedas voted 2009 Ram the Best Pickup Truck for 2008.

  • "There is plenty here to separate the new Dodge Ram from its other half-ton competitors, especially the two recently revamped trucks from GM and Toyota."
    – Motor Trend, November 2008

  • "The Ram was like the sport sedan of the test and provided a satisfying experience on tight and twisty back roads."
    – Popular Mechanics online, Oct. 17, 2008

  • "On smooth or rough pavement, the Ram's ride quality is impressive – not giving a hint you're cruising in a rugged, full-size 4x4 pickup. Once inside, I settle into an interior with supportive, well-bolstered seats, and tailoring far outclassing any interior Dodge has had in a pickup."
    – Houston Chronicle, Oct. 1, 2008

  • "The half-ton pickup is ubiquitous, a development owing to the ongoing escalation of both capability and versatility. And put simply, Dodge has struck a keen balance between these two attributes with the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500."
    – Edmunds.com, Oct. 1, 2008

  • "This is Dodge's year for a pickup truck."
    – Daily Oklahoman, Oct. 19, 2008

  • "We previewed and road tested the new 1500 Ram and walked away impressed by the fact that it provides a benchmark against which to measure other medium-duty pickup trucks."
    – Photo & Travel Magazine, Oct. 22, 2008
